Passion, character and one giant juxtaposition
Discover the developing relationship with a local artist from a storytelling video to multiple studio and location shoots.
It’s not often we show the client journey in so much detail, but this one is a bit special!
I first met Jon Stiff of StiffyArt to discuss an idea for a promotional film. Jon’s art coach Jaanika presented an outline plan which developed into a series of introductory films.
Working with the brief
Often, when a marketing or creative director comes to us as a creative studio, there is a clear directive and plan in place, a framework we’re bound to ensure target achievement.
However, with Jon and Jaanika, a creative chord expanded the project to hit immediate goals and more extended marketing development.
At Emotive Eye, we’re always looking to bring additional value to a project for a client, providing timeless content that holds a place for months after production.
Following our production mantra, we developed with Jon a series of films exploring Jon, his inspirations and his works and showcasing him in action. These films, and the still photographs produced, gave a presentation that allows Jon to connect with a farther-reaching audience.
Promotional Film for Stratford Artist Jon Stiff
Our initial filming was around teamwork – Jaanika from Okk Arts providing the questions, probing Jon for honest and passionate answers. Two hours under the lights edited to produce powerful pieces that display Jon Stiff as an eminent artist with a genuinely brilliant style and approach.
Whilst the audio and talking head production hit the initial mark, expanding upon the project with on-location filming to show the character and provide grounding to Jon in and around Stratford-upon-Avon and introduce his working approach and studio.

Photographing Art Pieces for Catalogue and Gallery Launch
Whilst we’re not studio photographers, capturing art and product images for Jon fell perfectly into the remit. Jon has such a wealth of art pieces, constantly developing new items to showcase his development and the journey.
Towards the end of 2019, Jon held his first gallery launch in Birmingham, which we were commissioned to capture:
This evening also saw an opportunity to screen the complete film in a side room for those wanting to connect with the man behind the artworks – you can see the film here:
Birmingham Studio Photography with Jon Stiff
The fabulous studio we use in the middle of Birmingham has a significant amount of space available for capturing video and still photographs, including Jon’s extraordinary and elaborate pieces.

On-Location Portraits and Product Images
Towards the end of 2020, we had another opportunity to capture work with Jon capturing his updated Covid-19 safe masks and having a bit of fun on location.
Jon had also completed the transformation of his house into a gallery, and here you can see the complete gallery in all its glory:
Working with Emotive Eye
It’s safe to say at Emotive Eye, we’re far from one-trick-ponies. Specialising in projects with a connection and passion, we can explore ideas with our clients and subjects to develop a product beyond the initial concept.
